Dr. Joseph E. Hickey, DDS

Originally from South Bend, Dr. Hickey has been providing exceptional and personalized dental care for well over a decade. He grew an interest in the world of healthcare when he was growing up, which only became stronger once he started working for a local oral surgeon. After witnessing how the practice operated and the amount of care he could provide for those in his community, set out to become a dentist. Today, he gets to help others achieve their dream smiles while maintaining their oral health so that they can enjoy a better quality of life.

Dr. Hickey studied at the University of Notre Dame to attain his undergraduate degree in pre-professional studies and economics. He later attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry to earn his dental doctorate, and then he worked for Heartland Dental in the Kokomo and Indianapolis area after graduation. Later, he completed the Heartland’s Aesthetic Continuum—a hands-on, cosmetic program that involved extensive training in porcelain veneers. Dr. Hickey remains dedicated to continuing education, focusing on areas like orthodontics through the Academy of Straight Wire and Functional Orthodontics as well as dental implants via the Implant Dentistry Continuum.

Whenever he isn’t at the office improving pearly whites for his patients, Dr. Hickey spends his time with his lovely wife—whom he met while at Notre Dame—and their wonderful children. He enjoys hosting large groups of friends and family at football tailgates and loves watching the Cubs play. You’ll find him involved in his children’s sports activities, coaching Upward Basketball, and golfing with friends at Morris Park. He also enjoys traveling with his family whenever they get the chance.
